3M provide a forum for professionals to discuss hearing protection

by Sarah Lawrence

More than 150 health and safety professionals from across the UK recently gathered in Manchester for the annual 3M Hearing Seminar, hosted by the Personal Safety Division of diversified technology company 3M.

The event was partnered by leading industry experts the Health and Safety Laboratory (HSL) and Action on Hearing Loss. Together the three organisations provided a forum for health and safety managers to learn and discover about the latest topics surrounding hearing protection.

The agenda included a section on Otoacoustic Emissions, a new topic within industrial workplace hearing conservation, which was presented by HSL, a leading research organisation with a breadth of coverage which has earned international recognition.

Delegates were also given a unique insight into global food manufacturer Kellogg’s as a representative from the company delivered a presentation on the full hearing conservation programme 3M supported them in developing.

The 3M technical team discussed trending issues in the industry, as technical engineer Sarah Broadbent, explains: “The seminar was very well received and provided an ideal forum for health and safety managers to share best practice and take away practical advice on hearing protection to implement in their own place of work.”

Due to the success of the seminar, 3M has announced it will be returning in 2014 – to register, go to: Register
